When I was young I loved above all else being on the beach! We were not blessed with living by the sea but all our holidays were within reach of it thankfully! As an adult I am now in Sutherland living 10 minutes from the nearest beaches and there is still nothing I enjoy more than strolling along the sand or pebbles - in any season and any weather!

I gather driftwood and other materials from many Scottish beaches, never failing to be intrigued by the mysterious history of each piece. I work with the material just as I find them with duplication being impossible as no two seashore found objects are the same, due to the tumbling action of the sea.

The textile seascapes I create are particularly influenced by the wild north-west coastline of Scotland, where the colours of the sea range from palest aquamarine to deep indigo, with splashes of white waves and misty islands in the distance. I use both machine and handstitching, using mostly recycled or reused fabrics.

After establishing Drifted into Design I spent many years attending events such as Pittenweem Arts Festival in Fife, the Handmade Show in Perth and various local fairs in the gorgeous Fife villages. Moving north from Fife to Sutherland in 2019 meant an end to fairs but my sales through shops and online continue. For current stockists and websites see below:-
