As a child, I was blessed with family visits to beaches in North Wales, the Lancashire Coast, Suffolk and Sutherland regularly. The feel of the sand between my toes epitomises happy family days spent collecting pretty shells or fascinating pebbles, munching on bread rolls, crisps and my Mum’s cakes - and of course, building sand castles with my brothers.

That love of the shoreline, big crashing waves and crying seagulls has stayed with me all my life and it shone through when I studied Art and Design at College as a mature student. All my projects featured either seashore finds or natural objects in some way. I particularly loved layering different textures and materials (I still do!).

Once College was over, I started Drifted into Design, putting into reality my dream of having a job related to the sea!

More soon about my College projects and how they influenced my early Drifted into Design days….
